Module 1 goes over the basics of line locating, which includes the tools used and how to properly use them, operations pre and post line locating, rules and regulations, as well as common hazards and personal protective equipment.
2.Active Locating Methods
Module 2 provides an overview of the three active methods of locating utilities. The three methods include Direct Hook-Up, Inductive Clamp, and the inductive method.
3.Passive Locating Methods
Module 3 provides an overview of the passive methods of locating underground utilities. The three methods overviewed in this section are radio modes, live cable modes, and cathodic protection system (CPS) modes.
4.Advanced Locating Methods
Module 4 provides an overview of the five advanced methods of line locating, which includes parallel line checks, basic sweeping methods, multi-angle sweeping, 360-degree sweeps, and the ALL method.
5.Unconventional Locating Methods
Module 5 provides an overview of the three main unconventional methods of locating underground utilities, which includes the Point A to B method, the Measurement method, and the Visual Evidence method. You will also go over verification processes, risks, and hazards.
6.Obstacles And Problem Solving
Module 6 goes over the most common obstacles you will encounter while locating utility and gas lines underground, as well as provide you with the knowledge on how to solve any problems you may encounter.
